Break-Out Session Synopses

Tuesday

Plenary Session with Rev. Steve Hight – “Your Personal Pentecost – Your Catalyst”

Your personal Pentecost will be a major holiness catalyst in both life and ministry.

Workshop Sessions

Intercultural Studies with Eric Himelick – “Preparation of World Changing Missions”

How are missionaries to prepare to engage the world today in light of the current trends and challenges? This session takes a look at what tools need to be in the modern missionary’s toolbox.

Pastoral Ministry with Dr. David Fry – “Holiness in the Pulpit”

Why is preaching and teaching holiness such a vital component of pastoring?  This session will address the necessity of preaching holiness, the ramification of not preaching holiness, and how to make it interesting and alive in our culture.

Music with Barry Mason – “Holiness Hymns and Songs”

This session explores how the Wesley’s and other composers presented the message of holiness through their literature.

Education – TBA

Wednesday

Plenary Session with Dr. David Fry – “Holiness and Worship”

Exploration of how holiness impacts our experience of worship in our services and private worship. How does holiness drive our passion for worshiping God? How does holiness aid our worship of God? How does holiness keep us accountable to God as we worship?

Workshop Sessions

Intercultural Studies with Eric Himelick    – “The Advancing Mission of Acts”

There is much to be learned from the example of the early church and the Apostle Paul in Advancing our Mission today. This will be a historical look with many modern applications.???

Pastoral Ministry with Dr. David Fry – “Impact of Holiness on Church Outreach”

This session explores the doctrine of holiness as it relates to the church outreach in evangelism and discipleship.  Does holiness impact these areas of our churches?  Why are we not more active in these areas of Christina service?

Music with Connie Hilligoss – “How Shall They Hear?”

How do we keep the trend in modern church music culture from invading our ranks?  And how we bring the focus of music back to its rightful, original purpose?

Education with Barry Mason – “Cultivating a Child’s Moral Compass”

This session addresses how we can work with children to help change their future by providing them with key foundational values that counteract the typical self-centeredness that is antithetical to a holy life.

Thursday

Plenary Session with Barry Mason – “Music in the Balance”

How did we get where we are?  Are we losing our sensitivity?

Workshop Sessions

Intercultural Studies with Dr. Stephen Gibson- “The Essential Component in Missional Evangelism”

A missionary is not sent only to “be a blessing,” or to share the gospel with random contacts.  A missionary is “on a mission” to set in motion evangelism that will continue after he is gone.  That requires purposeful building of an evangelistic institution.  Points in this session include “The Rope of Sand,” “Rabbit Structure,” “The 30-year Tragedy,” “The Obsolete Missionary,” and “The Master’s Method.”

Pastoral Ministry with Dr. David Fry – “Holiness in Life”

This session explores the living out of our doctrine of holiness in practical ways.  What does this look like in “common everyday” people?  How is this accomplished with effectiveness by the pastor and the laity?

Music with Wallace Thornton – “Holiness Revivalism in Music”

Exploration of how to teach the world to sing the songs of heaven.

Education with Barry Mason – “Creative Bible Teaching for College Students”

This session explores the foundation for all life change, and places emphasis upon teaching college students with the goal of life change always in mind.
